OKC Thunder: Mouhamed Gueye Could Provide Mobile Big in Secound Round

The Thunder need size and with only two picks now, the No. 50 pick could provide the best chance to add a dynamic big.

Oklahoma City is down to just two draft selections this season after a trade with the Nuggets on Friday.

The Thunder still own the No. 12 and No. 50 picks this year, giving the team ample opportunity to draft two players who can fill important roles.

At No. 50, the Thunder have the chance to take their pick of talented centers. With OKC in need of a center and more size in their rotation, their second round pick could provide the best value and more choices.

Mouhamed Gueye provides a good project piece while also being young at the 50th pick. The 6-foot-11, 210 pounds sophomore center from Washington State will provide much needed size for the Thunder as a true big man.

Gueye had a great sophomore year with the Cougars, averaging 14.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He shot an impressive 48.8% from the field this season, which was slightly down from his freshman season.

Gueye, despite being through two seasons in college, is still young for the class. He’ll be 20-years-old at the time of draft, as he reclassified in high school and entered college early. Overall he's mobile and fluid as a big man and an elite rebounder on both ends, and could provide an interesting option for teams late in the second round.

For OKC, Gueye fits the mold the Thunder need. He’s got exceptional length, is mobile and can run the floor. The Thunder will certainly be in the market for more size and Gueye provides just that in the draft.
