In this story:

It's no secret who has the most draft capital in the NBA. After completing a full-on rebuild and accumulating rising stars through the draft and via trades, Oklahoma City still has an abundance of assets to use over the next ten years. The Thunder have already started kicking a handful of draft picks down the road for when the team might be ready to hit the restart button once again.

Bleacher Report recently ranked NBA teams in terms of draft capital, and to no surprise, the Thunder came in at No. 1. Oklahoma City's treasure chest of draft picks is truly special.

The article took a deep dive into all of Oklahoma City's upcoming first round picks, which totals out to a large number. It's even more impressive if you take second round picks into consideration.

Own: 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030

Incoming: 2024 (Houston Rockets, protected), 2024 (LA Clippers), 2024 (Utah Jazz, protected), 2025 (Miami Heat, protected), 2025 (Philadelphia 76ers, protected), 2026 (Rockets, protected), 2026 (Clippers), 2027 (Denver Nuggets, protected), 2029 (Nuggets, protected)

Swaps: 2025 (Clippers, Brooklyn Nets or Rockets)

Factoring in second round selections, it gets a bit ridiculous. The Thunder have an unfair amount.

Guaranteed: 19

Contingent: Six

Oklahoma City's young, blossoming core is already heading towards team success and individual stardom, which makes the influx of picks that much more impressive. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is looking like an annual MVP candidate, while Jalen Williams, Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren all have All-Star potential. As a team, the Thunder shattered expectations a season ago and made the NBA's play-in tournament.

No matter how good Oklahoma City is over the next five-to-seven years, though, there's always a chance the team will be picking near the top of the draft. The Thunder should have multiple first round picks, sometimes three or four, for the foreseeable future. They certainly won't have room to roster every single one, so a trade package for a star is on the table.

It'll be fascinating to watch it all unfold in real time. For now, though, Oklahoma City unquestionably has the most future draft capital in the NBA — and maybe even in NBA history.
