Thunder Game Day: OKC Takes on Celtics in Battle of League’s Best

Oklahoma City’s first test of 2024 will be the white-hot Boston Celtics.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are officially rolling.

With a current four-game win-streak capped with a victory over Brooklyn Sunday night — and six wins in their last seven tries — the Thunder are becoming one of the teams to beat league-wide.

On Tuesday, though, they’ll take on the league’s actual team to beat, the Boston Celtics, who have the top 2023-24 NBA championship odds.

ODDS:

The Thunder enter the day as 2.5-point underdogs against the Celtics, and the total over/under is 238.5 points.

KEYS TO THE GAME:

Firstly, Oklahoma City is going to have to have their 3-ball going against Boston to have a chance. They’ve been able to win in other ways against lesser teams, but there will be no shooting sub-30% from beyond the arc Tuesday and coming away with a win.

While stars like Jayson Tatum and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are going to get theirs, the game could be won in who limits the sub-stars the most.

Whoever comes away with more matchups between Jaylen Brown-Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren-Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White-Josh Giddey could be the victor.

RECORDS:

Oklahoma City Thunder (22-9) vs. Boston Celtics (26-6)

FINAL WORD:

Regardless of the outcome, two of the best teams in the NBA are set to face off against one another in what should be a good litmus test for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

If they suffer a loss, they’ll have the information necessary to continue getting even better in time for the NBA Playoffs.

Winning could mean sending a message to the entire league.
