OKC Thunder, NBA Could be in for Quiet Trade Deadline

Oklahoma City, as well as a myriad of other NBA teams, could be ready to stand pat at Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

Following Pascal Siakam’s move from Toronto to Indiana a few weeks ago, there’s been little movement on the NBA trade front.

There’s been a few smaller deals go down — Terry Rozier found his way to Miami and Steven Adams landed in Houston — but otherwise, things have cooled.

In stark contrast to trade deadline’s past, it really doesn’t feel like the calm before the storm. More, calm before the calm.

Teams are simply happy where they’re at. Contenders like Boston, Minnesota and Denver are happy to play out the rest of their season in hopes of finishing with a title. Repositioned teams like San Antonio and Washington are happy to continue their youth movement. And even middling teams like Brooklyn, Chicago and more have reason enough to hang onto some of their talent.

And that’s especially the case with Oklahoma City.

At 35-16 and No. 2 in the Western Conference, there’s a great chance OKC opts to stick with the roster that’s gotten them to this point.

The organization could always look to shore up rebounding, or add a backup big wrinkle alongside Chet Holmgren, but so far they've had great success in forcing other teams to play the Thunder's brand of basketball. And adding players — be it superstars or role players — can offer its own challenges.

And while we won't actually know of any potential trades until they've happened, some reports have surfaced that OKC could likely be rolling with what they've got.

Regardless, the Thunder should continue to be must-watch basketball, with MVP and Rookie of the Year candidates, as we near a much-needed All-Star weekend.
