Thunder Gameday: LeBron James Attempts to Break Scoring Record

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James needs 36 points against Oklahoma City tonight to break the all-time record.

In what could be a special game, the Los Angeles Lakers will host the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight. This game was recently flexed into a national TV game, given LeBron James will have a chance at breaking the all-time scoring record.

In fact, he needs just 36 more points to reach this historic accolade. He is questionable entering the day, but should be suiting up against Oklahoma City.

Can he pull this off, or will the Thunder force James to break the record later in the week?

ODDS:

The Thunder enter the day as 7.5-point underdogs to the Lakers, and the total over/under is 238.5 points.

KEYS TO THE GAME:

The availability of Lu Dort will greatly impact James' ability to score the 36 points he needs tonight. He's been out of the rotation for quite some time now with a hamstring injury and will not suit up in this contest.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Thunder will be on the second night of a back-to-back tonight following a blow out loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday. With that in mind, key players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were able to rest the entire fourth quarter with the game out of reach.

Both of these teams have 25 wins, meaning the winner of this contest will hold sole possession of the No. 12 seed in the Western Conference. Since the trade deadline is Thursday, there's a chance both of these rosters could look slightly different by the end of the week.
