Chet Holmgren has had a busy summer after missing last season with a foot injury. He’s taking no time jumping right back into the swing of things, as he starred in Summer League and is now getting in work with Team USA’s Select Team.

Both Holmgren and Jalen Williams were selected to represent the Thunder on Team USA as preparations for the FIBA World Cup are in full gear. Oklahoma City’s big man is already gaining quite the reputation for finding any way to stay on the court. Last summer, Holmgren played in Summer League, pick-up runs with the NBA’s top stars, and Jamal Crawford’s Pro-Am league.

In addition to Holmgren and Williams, the USA Select Team features a number of other rising stars as well. Jalen Green, Cade Cunningham, Trey Murphy and Jalen Duren have been showing off over the last few weeks too.

“It’s great, any opportunity to play I want to take advantage of,” Holmgren said. “I just love to hoop.“

Holmgren has already put together a solid highlight reel throughout the first few weeks of training, displaying his defensive prowess in every scrimmage. His shot-blocking skills are inevitable and will be a massive help in Oklahoma City.

“It’s been great to go up against this level of competition,” Holmgren said. “All great players on the floor, learning from a Hall of Fame panel of coaches. I’ve been just trying to take advantage of the opportunity, and I feel like that’s what I’ve been doing.”

With a few years of experience, Holmgren could end up being a key part of the Team USA roster down the road. He grew up representing the country and could be one of the faces of the team moving forward. He seems committed to playing for the Red White and Blue and is now getting acclimated with the group as a professional.
