On Thursday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder traveled to San Antonio to take on the Spurs in the third regular season matchup between Rookie of the Year front runners and rising stars Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.

The NBA World was treated to a special night from both rookie sensations, as Holmgren could do no wrong in the first half before a Wembanyama fourth-quarter takeover lifted the Spurs to their 12th win of the season.

This young San Antonio Spurs squad handled a 20-6 Thunder run, countering it with a 16-5 run to end the fourth frame and secure a win.

Wembanyama finished with 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, a jaw-dropping five blocks, and two rebounds. An uncharacteristic 5-for-7 shooting night from beyond the arc sparked the worst 3-point shooting team in the NBA to stroke the trey ball at a 48 percent clip in this contest.

Holmgren logged 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a block while shooting 66 percent from the floor.

As the two generational big men duked it out, it sent social media into a frenzy.

This marks Wembanyama's first win over his rookie counterpart as the two are poised to be tied together for a long time. Oklahoma City and San Antonio will face off once more this season in April.
