In the NBA, continuity matters. And the Denver Nuggets are showing why right now.

In 2021, the Milwaukee Bucks showed why. Young team’s can point towards the Memphis Grizzlies rise to see how continuity can benefit a young team.

The Thunder are being incredibly patient with their rebuild, and they’ve been very public about that. However, this hasn’t led to continuity. There’s been plenty of roster turnover the past few years.

This past season, the Thunder saw the turning of the corner. Usually, this is where teams can build off a promising, yet underwhelming season, the first stage of the turning of the corner for rebuilding teams. However, the Thunder had an over successful season full of potential, and they’ll be able to find some continuity as a team. They’ll be a blend of all the teams above, and given their unique situation, their tweaks to the roster will come in a much different way.

Now that the Thunder have had a 40-win season with their core, a former no. 2 overall pick on the way and a war chest of picks, the Thunder will be able to develop their young players in a way that helps them grow individually and as a unit, and fans will be able to see that process in real time over the course of years.

The Nuggets stuck through some painful playoff exits and shortcomings with their young cores, and with those players hitting their primes and finding long term health, they’re capitalizing with a hopeful championship run in the Finals.

For the Thunder, they will be working to find a similar continuity, as a team does in a small market, and they’ll have plenty of time to stick through the rough times of building a contending team to wait for their turn to strike for a championship run.

The key to growing as a team and having a diverse team, as the Nuggets do, will be having continuity and being able to develop a team in such a way that benefits the system and pulls the best out of each individual player.

If the Thunder were already beginning to turn a corner with no continuity, the rise will continue to happen quicker than fans were imagining. With less and less roster turnover, the team will be able to have results to show for in much better time.
