The night before the NBA preseason is usually reserved for anticipation and excitement, but this season, the Thunder wanted to give its fans a chance to express that at its arena with a team-sanctioned Fan Fest.

After nearly five months of offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder's 2023-24 campaign continues to inch closer and closer.

The Thunder will begin its preseason slate on a Monday evening at home against No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. One day prior, fans will be given a chance to show off their team spirit at a Thunder-sanctioned "Fan Fest," set to take place the evening before.

The event will be held just outside of Paycom Center, and will feature performances from the Thunder Girls, Thunder Drummers and even local artists Dusty Gilpin and Tony Thunder — though those performances are only half of the allure.

As a way to encourage as many fans as possible to attend, the team has made the event free for any interested fans, with the first 1,000 to arrive receiving a free Thunder hat upon arrival.

Offering performances and free merchandise is certainly alluring to fans, especially for those who have spent the entire offseason waiting for the next year to start — which is what Thunder director of Fan Development and Retail Michelle Matthews is well aware of.

"It's time to get ready and loud for the 2023-24 season, Matthews said in a team press release. "We're excited to highlight local food, art and entertainment and give fans a glimpse of what's in store."

Apart from the performances and merchandise giveaways, the Thunder's "Fan Fest" will also give fans a chance to show off their own basketball skills, with skill challenges, dunk contests and other activities set to be available with prize incentives.

The first event of the season may not include a full-length basketball game like the one set for the very next day, but it certainly will be a chance for fans to build anticipation for this season's Thunder team, which will be looking to build upon its momentum from the 2022-23 season.

Paycom Center's "Thunder Fan Fest" will open its gates starting at 5:30 p.m. CST, and will run for approximately three hours. Fans can claim their digital ticket at the following link.
