Gallinari's comments come from an interview with Radio 1 Rai. Gallinari played for Olimpia Milano from 2006-2008 before being drafted Knicks in 2008.
During the NBA lockout of 2011, Gallinari returned to Olimpia Milano playing in seven games. If Gallinari chooses to go home, it will most likely happen after his NBA playing days are over. As for his future with the Thunder, it all depends on what the market will bear.
Gallinari is making north of $22,000,000 and will be 32 when next year tips off. The Thunder currently owe $2,000,000 in luxury tax. That number may seem small, but if you're not in serious contention for a championship, it's money well spent.

One thing on Sam Presti's side is the salary cap could be considerably lower, and the market for Gallinari may shrink. If you can get him for under 20-million a year, it might be worth the investment to see if this team can make a run in the next couple of seasons.
When it comes to Gallinari going back to play for Olimpia Milano, I love the idea. Being one who hates to let go of their heroes, the concept of former NBA players finishing out their careers overseason is an exciting prospect.
