Video: Does Sam Presti Owe Chris Paul a Shot at a Ring

If Chris Paul asked to be traded to a contender is Sam Presti obligated to make that happen?

  Over the next few weeks, we are going to discuss what the future holds for Chris Paul Ad nauseam.  At the end of his current contract, Paul will be 37, and the only thing missing on his Hall of Fame resume is a ring. 

Sam Presti's options are limited if Paul wants to go to a real contender. There are only six teams total that would fit that description, with two of those being the Clippers and Lakers.

The Lakers would have to have to move multiple players and possibly part with a couple of draft picks to consummate a deal. Depending on the players (Avery Bradley, JaVale McGee, Danny Green), Rob Palanca might be inclined to take on the $85,000,00 Paul is owed over the next two seasons.

The Clippers, on the other hand, seem like a long shot. For one, the Thunder have already pillaged them of four unprotected first-round draft picks in the Paul George trade and would want to make a potential deal for Paul hurt as well. 

 Don't rule out Paul retiring in Oklahoma City. It would be a nice bookend to a career that started with dislocated Hornets and ends with him keeping the Thunder from going through a lengthy rebuild.  

Whatever happens with Paul, I just hope we get to see him play a few more games before next season tips off. 

Silver Says There is no Timetable for a Return:

During a teleconference after a Board of Governors meeting, Commissioner Adam Silver says there is no timetable for a return to the court. "Based on the reports that we got from varied outside officials, current public health officials ... we are not in a position to make any decisions"... "And it's unclear when we will be."

Health remains the number one concern for the league; Silver also says that 19 players have tested positive for COVID-19, which is higher than the original report of seven.
