Wolves fans roast NBA Twitter account for essay on Thunder topping the West

The NBA posted a 464-word essay about the Thunder leapfrogging the Wolves for the top spot in the West Monday

Timberwolves fans spent the better part of Tuesday roasting the official NBA Twitter account for it's treatment of Minnesota regaining first place in the Western Conference.

On Monday, the league's official account posted a 464-word breakdown celebrating the Thunder taking over first place in the Western Conference and the Wolves falling off their perch.

After Monday night's 119-114 Wolves win over the Blazers and the Thunder's 116-104 loss to the Lakers, Minnesota regained their place atop the West. How did the NBA's Twitter account commemorate the occasion? With a tweet that read: "Updated West Standings (exclamation emojis). Timberwolves return to the top seed in the West!" and a picture of the updated standings.

Needless to say Wolves fans didn't take kindly to the fact that the league poured its heart and soul into the Thunder's temporary spot atop the West and didn't return the favor for Minnesota. Twitter user @Y0Leo posted side-by-sides of the tweets showing the apparent disrespect for the Wolves.

Another Twitter user, @AdamAwes10K, said "Aight the @NBA admin is clearly just a hater. Where's our essay????"

Another, someone who goes by @Franzchero, wrote: "They legit wrote a whole book report when the Thunder got 1st place. Nah I’d be pissed if I was a Wolves fan."

The Timberwolves official account got in on the roasting by posting a picture of Jaden McDaniels on a laptop with the caption "hope the @NBA admin is writing the essay this morning..."

After seeing the backlash to the snubbing the NBA responded Tuesday afternoon with a new essay about the Wolves reclaiming the top spot in the West. Even then, it's still notably lighter on Wolves details than Monday's post was for the Thunder.
