Carmelo Anthony's Car Troubles In Portland Snow Almost Made Him Miss Team Plane

It's safe to say the Trail Blazers expected a reprieve from winter weather when they left Portland for Sunday's road matinee against the Mavericks. Imagine their disappointment upon landing at DFW Airport to see exactly what they did when the team plane left Rip City: snow, ice and blustery cold.
The forecast in Dallas, believe it or not, calls for multiple inches of snow to fall between Sunday and Monday evening. The silver lining for Portland? At least Carmelo Anthony won't have to manage driving slick streets between the airport, team hotel and American Airlines Center all by himself.
Brad Showers, a season ticket holder of the Blazers since 2004, was driving on I-205 with his family on Saturday when he saw a familiar face stuck on the side of the road. It was Anthony, managing winter weather with the struggles of a seasoned Portlander while on his way to PDX for the team plane.
"We see somebody on the side of the road that was stuck,” Showers told A.J. McCord of KOIN News. “I actually passed him and then I’m like, ‘that was Carmelo Anthony!’ I literally slammed on my brakes, so not necessarily doing a good Samaritan thing but I just couldn’t help thinking that that guy can’t be stuck on the side of the road. So, I jacked it in reverse and lo-and-behold Carmelo Anthony was kind of stuck a little."
Whether a good Samaritan or self-serving fan, Showers apparently might not have been so willing to help out if Anthony wasn't in the midst of a throwback scoring binge.
"I said, ‘you’re shooting too good to be stuck on the side of the road, we need to get you out of here."
After another passerby offered a towrope, the group was able to get Anthony's car moving after 10 minutes of effort. 'Melo even managed to make the team plane on time, too.
We'll see if Anthony and his teammates have warmed up from the winter cold when the Blazers and Mavericks tipoff at 4:30 p.m. (PST) on ESPN.
