Jerry Rice Jr. takes part in San Francisco 49ers' local pro day

Local pro days are organized by almost every NFL franchise in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough, and they usually don't attract much fanfare. But when the son of an NFL legend who starred for the hometown team shows up at the organization's facility to participate, the pre-draft workouts garner a little more attention.
That was the case last Friday for the San Francisco 49ers, who watched Jerry Rice Jr. work out with over 60 other former college players looking to make an NFL roster.

Rice, who spent four years at UCLA as a walk-on before transferring to UNLV for his final year of eligibility, stopped by the 49ers' Santa Clara-based training facility with hopes of opening a few eyes.
“I’m trying to get in the door, front door, side window, I’m trying to jump in there,” Jerry Rice Jr. told 49ers.com, adding that he trains with his Hall of Fame father and that the two share precise route-running and dependable hands. “All I want is an opportunity, so that’s what I’m working for right now.”
The prospects were put through a variety of workouts during the local pro day, including the 40-yard dash and 10-yard shuttle drills.
