Panthers' Michael Oher says The Blind Side has been bad for his career
Carolina Panthers left tackle Michael Oher told ESPN's David Newton that the 2009 movie about his life, The Blind Side, has taken away from what he can do as a football player.
The Blind Side told the story of how Oher, played by Quinton Aaron, was taken in by a family who convinced him to play football in high school, and eventually Ole Miss. Oher was drafted by with the 23rd pick of the 2009 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Oher played five seasons with the Ravens, but was not re-signed after the 2013 season.
Oher signed a five-year, $20 million deal with the Tennessee Titans in 2014, but was released the following offseason. In March, Oher signed a two-year, $7-million deal with the Panthers.

"I'm not trying to prove anything,'' Oher said. "People look at me, and they take things away from me because of a movie. They don't really see the skills and the kind of player I am. That's why I get downgraded so much, because of something off the field.
"This stuff, calling me a bust, people saying if I can play or not ... that has nothing to do with football. It's something else off the field. That's why I don't like that movie.''
