The Detroit Lions have placed cornerback Rashean Mathis on injured reserve.
Mathis sustained a concussion in the Lions’ Week 7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Mathis was suffering from headaches throughout the next two weeks, causing him to miss one more game and eventually end up on IR.
The Lions re-signed the 35-year-old Mathis to a two-year, $3.5 million contract this past off-season. Now in his 13th season, Mathis has 32 career interceptions in time with the Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The 1–7 Lions will play the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
