After Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was critical of 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert on Sunday, Gabbert’s teammate, linebacker NaVorro Bowman, came to his defense on Monday.
Bennett said “there is no challenge” facing Gabbert after Seattle beat up on San Francisco, 37–18, adding that Colin Kaepernick should start for the team.
In an interview for SI’s Pro Football Now, Bowman said that Gabbert would “get back in the lab prove Bennett wrong.”
Gabbert has completed 55.2% of his passes through two games for 532 yards and three touchdowns, with three interceptions. The 49ers sit in a tie for third in the NFC West at 1–2, behind the Rams and Seahawks, who are 2–1.
