NFC Rides Dominant Performance in Tug-of-War and Madden to Victory at Pro Bowl Games

The second edition of the Pro Bowl Games took place over the weekend, pitting superstars representing the AFC and NFC against each other.

While the old Pro Bowl was an exhibition game played with real pads but little care, the Pro Bowl Games replaced the helmets and shoulder pads for bucket hats and sunglasses.

On Sunday, the NFC was able to hold on against the AFC to secure a 64–59 win when the flag football game went final. The game-sealing play came on defense, with the NFC forcing a stop on fourth-and-goal with just seconds left on the clock.

Coaches Peyton Manning and Eli Manning both had pretty good reactions to the moment.

While the NFC wound up winning the weekend, they actually didn’t win the flag football portion of the competition.

Instead, the NFC built its lead through dominating several of the earlier contests that were worth points heading into Sunday’s flag football finale.

Thanks to wins in the Madden and Best Catch competitions among others, the NFC held a 27–9 lead over the AFC before a single flag was pulled.

The NFC added another three points to their total between the third and fourth quarter with a stellar showing in the Tug of War.

So while the AFC outplayed the NFC on the flag football field, thanks to their wins in ancillary events across the weekend, the NFC ultimately lifted the trophy.

It’s a new era of the Pro Bowl, we’re just living in it.
