Steelers Sign Pro Bowl Edge Rusher Melvin Ingram to One-Year Deal

The 32-year-old spent the first nine years of his career in Los Angeles.

CINCINNATI — The Steelers were on the hunt for offensive line help. They found it on Monday afternoon.

Former Pro Bowler Melvin Ingram has agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with Pittsburgh according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Steelers were looking for Bud Dupree's replacement after he signed with the Titans this offseason.

Ingram visited Pittsburgh on Monday. He's spent his entire nine-year career with the Chargers. He made three-straight Pro Bowls from 2017-19. The streak ended after injuries derailed his 2020 season. He only appeared in seven games and didn't have a sack.

"I just did the deal not too long ago and just got to the airport. It’s definitely a dope organization and environment; so I definitely feel like it's the place for me," Ingram told Josina Anderson. "I met with coach (Mike) Tomlin. You can tell he's very involved and a players coach. That's what stood out to me. He wants to win and that is what I am on. My role is role. He just told me to come in and be me. Everyone knows how I play."

Ingram joins a defensive line that includes T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward. The Steelers are hoping their newest addition can bring a little extra juice to their defense.
