Report: Steelers Interested in Signing Former Pro Bowl Edge Rusher
CINCINNATI — The Steelers are interested in free agent pass rusher Melvin Ingram according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Ingram is expected to visit Pittsburgh this week. The Steelers are on the hunt for an established edge rusher to pair with T.J. Watt. They had interest in Justin Houston, but "that doesn't appear to be a match" according to La Canfora.
Ingram has spent his entire nine-year career with the Chargers. He made three-straight Pro Bowls from 2017-19. The streak ended after injuries derailed his 2020 season. He only appeared in seven games and didn't have a sack.
The Steelers are hoping to replace Bud Dupree, who signed with the Titans in free agency, with an experienced edge rusher. Ingram would certainly fit that description.
