Finding Broncos: 8 Senior Bowl Prospects to be Cautious of

The Denver Broncos should be careful scouting these prospects.

While you can learn a lot about prospects during the week of Senior Bowl practices, and it can be beneficial not to get overhyped with a prospect for multiple reasons. There are eight such prospects for the Denver Broncos to be weary of in Mobile this week.

National Offense

Jaelyn Duncan | OT/OG | Maryland

Duncan is tough because this week can help him by showing consistent technique and not having issues around the edge that have opened up the conversation about a potential move to guard. Consistency will be huge, and the edge group for the National team is a good group, but not full of guys who can challenge him the way he needs to be challenged, with speed and quickness around the edge.

Jake Haener | QB | Fresno State

Haener has solid mechanics and is an intelligent quarterback that works well with timing. There are ways for the practices to challenge him, but for the most part, he should be able to stand out with the traits he does have. If/when he looks good, it is because he should.

American Offense

Chris Rodriguez Jr | RB | Kentucky

Practices are typically difficult for running backs to really stand out, as it's tipped in their favor. That hurts Rodriguez, mainly because of his play style.

Clayton Tune | QB | Houston

Much like Haener, Tune should shine during the week of practice because of his traits. There aren't major issues with his technique that he can show improvement with to help himself out.

National Defense

Ivan Pace Jr | LB | Cincinnati

The concerns with Pace are his size and length, which can be an issue with specific drills. However, most of the drills done during practice play to the strengths of his game. Therefore, it can easily take focus away from the concerns without answering questions about them.

J.L. Skinner | S | Boise State

No one will ever give Skinner a single-high safety role, but even with his size, he has shown the ability to play a two-high role while working in the box. He has decent enough versatility, and the week at the Senior Bowl gives him an opportunity to show off even more versatility. However, it can also expose those issues even more without giving him consistent ways to show off his biggest strengths.

American Defense

Dee Winters | LB | TCU

Winters is an undersized linebacker, and most of his concerns revolved around that while also play recognition being an issue. There will be some opportunities to answer questions about his problems, but for the most part, practices are set up to play to his strengths.

Ali Gaye | Edge | LSU

Gaye's athletic traits to be successful don't match up with the lack of production. There are serious concerns about his strength and power as a pass rusher when his athleticism and run defense get shut down. However, there is a chance Gaye stands out as a pass rusher because of his athleticism, especially on the one-on-one drills, while not being exposed often enough to answer concerns about the lack of power.
