Overview
Thompson needs to add about 10-15 pounds or be more of an off-ball linebacker in the NFL. He has a high football IQ and showed solid awareness in his limited coverage drops to make the transition. His play when attacking is significantly better, following behind a defensive lineman.
Being a freak athlete will draw the attention of many in the NFL, but his technique has a solid foundation. If he isn't moved to an off-ball linebacker, Thompson will likely find himself limited to a situational pass rusher role.
Fit with Broncos
The Denver Broncos can use more help with getting after the quarterback, but they need to add players who aren't pass-rush specialists. Thompson can add to their pass rushers, but his issues against the run are a significant concern. However, they have the personnel to keep Thompson clean and an aggressive play caller on defense that might be able to take advantage of his strengths.
