The Denver Broncos are over a month away from being on the clock in the 2024 NFL Draft. As expected, there has been an abundance of speculation on what they will do with their Round 1 pick.

With the team seemingly undergoing a complete rebuild, the Broncos can use help at almost every position group on its roster. Make no mistake: The quarterback situation needs to be addressed in the draft at some point. Fans would assume that the Broncos will take a signal caller in round one, but that may not necessarily be the case. Can the Broncos be targeting another position with the 12th overall selection?

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah seems to think so. In his NFL Mock Draft 3.0, he has the Broncos selecting TE Brock Bowers from the University of Georgia. Here is what Jeremiah said about this selection:

I know tight end is not a pressing need for the Broncos, but this is a “best player available” situation. They can deploy Bowers in the slot, similar to the way Sean Payton utilized Michael Thomas in New Orleans.

Bowers would provide a significant impact on this offense on Day 1. He can create matchup problems for defenses and become a massive target in the red zone. During each season at the University of Georgia, he had at least 56 receptions, 714 yards, and six touchdowns. He was also a three-time All-American and a significant contributor for the Bulldogs in their back-to-back national championship victories.

Over the past several years, the Broncos had minimum production from the tight end position. They believe that 2022 third-round selection Greg Dulcich is a talented passing threat. However, it remains to be seen on a consistent basis as injuries have prevented his availability.

Adam Trautman has had solid production but does not possess the talents of Dulcich or a prospect like Bowers. Given how his new two-year, $7.5 million contract is structured, it could mean he is not in the long-term plans for the Broncos.

The Broncos must do their best to fill out this roster and surround the next quarterback with talented weapons. Bowers is the perfect example of a player the Broncos could use in numerous ways. If he is available at Pick 12, there should be no hesitation to have Roger Goodell call his name on April 25th as the first selection for the Broncos.
