Report: Broncos Inquired About Signing S Nick Scott

Scott instead took his talents to Cincinnati.

The Denver Broncos made a late — but unsuccessful — push for former Rams safety Nick Scott, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported last Friday.

Scott ended up joining the Cincinnati Bengals on a three-year, $12 million contract that included a $3 million signing bonus, per Wilson.

A 2019 seventh-round pick, Scott spent his first four seasons in Los Angeles, posting 157 combined tackles (101 solo), nine pass breakups, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles across 65 appearances. The Penn State product played 97% of the Rams' defensive snaps last year.

Denver's apparent interest in Scott coincided with that in ex-Eagles star C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who inked a one-year deal worth up to $8 million with the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Which, in turn, disenchanted incumbent Broncos S Caden Sterns.

"Some of the disrespect is laughable, guess I’ll show y’all since y’all forgot," Sterns tweeted March 14.

With the CJGJ dream dead, the Broncos appear set to enter next month's draft with Justin Simmons and Sterns atop the depth chart, and PJ Locke, Delarrin Turner-Yell, and Devon Key as primary reserves. Judging by the team's activity, however, there likely will be another addition to the room.
