It took the Denver Broncos all of a half-hour to make a splash in free agency.

On Monday, with the NFL's legal tampering window open, the Broncos reportedly signed former Ravens guard Ben Powers to a four-year contract. The deal is worth $52 million, including $28.5 million guaranteed, according to 9News' Mike Klis.

Powers started 36 games for Baltimore since entering the league as a 2019 fourth-round draft pick. He appeared in all 17 games last season, earning Pro Football Focus' second-highest pass-blocking grade (86.7) among 77 qualifiers.

"Sean Payton has always had great guards and Ben Powers is a great move for the Broncos," ex-Ravens lineman AQ Shipley said Monday on The Pat McAfee Show.

Before turning pro, Powers was a standout at Oklahoma — a consensus All-American and first-team All-Big 12 in 2018 who drew pre-draft hype.

"Rugged, three-year starter for well-regarded Oklahoma offensive line," reads his NFL.com scouting profile. "Year playing junior college ball due to a lack of scholarship continues to feed his grudge-holding play demeanor on the field."

In Denver, Powers will step into the starting lineup at left guard, replacing Dalton Risner, an unrestricted free agent. The 26-year-old is the opening salvo to what should be an active signing period as the club is also likely to target a top-dollar right tackle in the hours ahead.
