Report: Broncos Sign Former Seahawks Starting Center

The Denver Broncos bolstered the offensive line with another free-agent signing.

The Denver Broncos have already taken some huge strides to bolster and reorganize the offensive line this offseason, signing top-tier free agents Mike McGlinchey and Ben Powers. That was on Day 1 of the NFL's 'legal tampering' window, and now, nearly two weeks later, the Broncos added another offensive lineman.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston, the Broncos have signed offensive lineman Kyle Fuller.

"Broncos reach agreement in principle with offensive lineman Kyle Fuller, per a league source," Wilson tweeted on Saturday.

Not to be confused with the cornerback of the same name (and former Bronco), this Fuller entered the NFL with the Houston Texans as a seventh-round draft pick back in 2017. Since then, he's also spent time with the Washington Commanders, Miami Dolphins, and, most recently, the Seattle Seahawks

Fuller started nine games at center for the Seahawks in 2021, Russell Wilson's final year in Seattle. Although Fuller did not start at all last year, considering the Broncos' hole at center, one wonders whether Sean Payton views the veteran as a starting-caliber option in Denver, especially considering his experience snapping to Wilson.

The 6-foot-5, 307-pound Fuller played his college ball at Baylor. While he might lack the type of athleticism to thrive in a zone-blocking scheme, in the power-gap-centric system Payton is implementing in Denver, Fuller could likely hold his own.

The Broncos have two incumbent center options in Lloyd Cushenberry III and 2022 late-round draft pick Luke Wattenberg. Cushenberry has been a mostly reliable starter at center since the Broncos drafted him in 2020, but his play fell off drastically last year before he suffered an injury.

The Broncos moved Graham Glasgow over from right guard to center in the wake of Cushenberry's injury. And even after Cushenberry recovered, Denver kept Glasgow in the starting lineup as the pivot. Glasgow has since departed, signing with the Detroit Lions

That was a different coaching staff, though. It'll be interesting to see what reports closer to home have to say about Fuller's outlook in Denver — whether he's been signed purely as a depth option or as a potential starter.
