Dre'Mont Jones: 'Broncos Didn't Pay Me My Proper Respects'

No love lost, apparently.

The grass may be greener in Seattle, but the grapes sure are sourer.

Just ask former Denver Broncos defensive end Dre'Mont Jones, who signed with the Seahawks on March 13 — and nearly a month later, still has an axe to grind.

"I mean, s**t, they should have just traded me from the jump … I was included in the trade," Jones said Monday of last year's deal for quarterback Russell Wilson, via Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. "Denver said no … Denver didn’t pay me my proper respects, so I’m here because (Seattle) respected me from the jump.”

It's quite the take from Jones, whom Denver drafted, made a 29-game starter, termed a "core player," and negotiated a long-term contract that never materialized. Probably because he wanted more than the Broncos were willing to offer, and instead got it from the Seahawks — $51 million over three years, including a fully-guaranteed $20 million signing bonus.

It's also not the first time that Jones bad-mouthed the Broncos since taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest.

"It was probably more hectic than what I like it to be. Just too much going on, a lot of drama, unnecessary,” he said in March regarding the 2022 season. "Football didn’t seem as important as it needed to be at one point."

However messy, the divorce had an amicable resolution for both parties. Jones received the financial "respect" he'd been seeking while Denver allocated its savings to his immediate replacement, former Cardinals DE Zach Allen, who inked a three-year, $45.75 million pact.

The Broncos moved on.

But Jones, clearly, hasn't.
