Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy Omitted From NFL All-Under-25 Team

In this story:
NFL.com's Nick Shook compiled an NFL All-Under-25 Team, which, you might surmise, is constructed entirely of players 25 years old or younger. Only one Denver Broncos player made the team: All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

The Jaguars’ Tyson Campbell has a strong case to be included here, too (Next Gen Stats metrics certainly back that up). However, I’m going with Surtain. He was Pro Football Focus’ second-highest graded cornerback last season, behind only Gardner. Sure, Surtain recorded just two interceptions, but looking at that stat alone is no way to evaluate defensive backs. He was a first-team All-Pro pick for a reason. Surtain is the real deal.
There was at least one other under-25 possibility on the Broncos roster — wide receiver Jerry Jeudy springs to mind. For all of Jeudy's well-documented vast potential, Shook went with Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, and CeeDee Lamb on the All-Under-25 Team.
It may hurt Broncos fans to admit it, but that wideout trio has out-produced Jeudy thus far. Thus, it's difficult to argue against Jeudy's exclusion from this list, but had Surtain been left off of it, serious questions would have to be asked.
Almost unbelievably, Shook put young Jacksonville Jaguars corner Tyson Campbell in the same conversation with Surtain. Shook presumably came to his senses before giving way to some compelling evidence provided by PFF, who ranks Surtain very highly indeed.
Shook also, somewhat predictably, opened up the debate floor to the comparisons between Surtain and Sauce Gardner of the New York Jets. Gardner is very much the hipster choice when forced to choose between the NFL's best young corners, and Shook didn't shy away from pointing out that undeniable trend among casual football fans.
Undoubtedly, the national narrative will repeatedly create a head-to-head between Surtain and Gardner, mostly because it generates clicks. In the final analysis, such frivolous media inventions will matter little to the always studious Surtain, especially as he embarks on his pivotal third year as a pro.
