Russell Wilson's Comeback Player of the Year Odds Revealed

Is the ultimate redemption story in store for the Denver Broncos' quarterback?

Denver, CO – Last summer, Denver Broncos fans buckled up, ready to ride to the land of winning football and postseason contention with their new franchise quarterback Russell Wilson.

Instead, fans were left to crash and burn on a messy and tumultuous journey that included the Broncos' sixth consecutive losing season with a third consecutive last-place finish in the AFC West and a pathetic 5-12 record.

As a starter, Wilson went 4-11 in his first year in Denver, completing 60.5% of his passes for 3,524 yards and 16 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He was sacked 55 times.

Rather than playing the exciting brand of football that earned him a Super Bowl championship, nine Pro Bowl nods, and various other league-leaguing accolades, Wilson played like a shell of his former self.

While Broncos Country is feeling good about the direction of their football team just one week ahead of training camp, perhaps fans should turn their attention to some revealing odds about their starting quarterback.

FanDuel Sportsbook is currently projecting Wilson as the sixth most probable candidate to win AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year for the 2023-2024 season. Current American odds from the FanDuel Experts place Wilson at (+3000) meaning that placing a $10.00 bet amount could win $300.00 with a $310.00 payout.

The Broncos' 34-year-old QB, who was recently seen working out with teammates at Coach Deion ‘Prime’ Sanders’ University of Colorado facilities, has looked particularly leaner. At first glance, Wilson appears to be in considerably better physical condition than last summer.

Perhaps the ‘Wise Guys’ that interpret and set the odds are beginning to come around on the possibility that the 2022 season was an aberration and that Wilson will have a fierce resurgence under head coach Sean Payton. Only the Miami Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa (+2000) and Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson (+2500) have higher odds of winning Comeback Player of the Year.

Sure, you could purchase a couple of cartons of eggs for approximately $10.00 during your next grocery trip, or you could have the chance to win a sizeable payout for the same price, according to gambling experts and sportsbooks.

What happened last year is in the past. The Payton Era is well underway in Mile High City. Payton was acquired via trade last February and hired to resurrect the Broncos' once-winning ways and usher in a career renaissance for Wilson.
