Von Miller Sends Message to Broncos' OTs Ahead of Week 10 MNF Tilt

Von Miller is looking forward to facing the Denver Broncos this coming season.

When the Denver Broncos head to upstate New York to face the Buffalo Bills for Week 10 on Monday Night Football, head coach Sean Payton will hope that his team will be in the competitive mix.

Fans will be hoping that Broncos-Bills will have major playoff implications for their team. It will also feature a compelling subplot with the legendary Von Miller lining up against the franchise with whom he became an icon.

Miller often speaks of the Broncos as if he's still playing in Orange and Blue, but using the possessive "we" to include his former team will most likely be dropped in time for Week 10. However, until that time, Miller seems content to not only use that particular possessive, but he also seems to be pining for the Broncos' success.

Miller was back in town recently for his Von’s Vision Night To Take Flight event. 9NEWS' Mike Klis was there to obtain a superlative quote about the current 2023 squad.

"It really, it really makes me feel at peace, all the things that we did in the locker room," Miller said, "all the work that we put in, all the blood, sweat, and tears that we put in to create the team that they have now and they have a super team, and I'm excited about it. I'm excited about Russell Wilson and Sean Payton and all these guys."

Miller seems to still take ownership in the Broncos, even though he's been gone almost two years. But while he may have won another Super Bowl ring in L.A., he'll always be remembered as a Bronco and the iconic moments he helped create, including Super Bowl 50, where he was named the MVP.

Miller is attempting to recover from a career-threatening ACL tear, so creating targets to shoot for is part of the motivational process. Matching up against the former team he led to a World Championship in 2015 undoubtedly adds some spice to the gumbo pot.

"I'll be ready for that, I'll be ready for that for sure,'' Miller said on Thursday.

Miller certainly didn’t become one of the most feared pass rushers in NFL history by failing to do his homework on opponents. So, way ahead of schedule, he's aware that he'll be squaring off against one of the league’s highest-paid right tackles, as well as a former first-round left tackle he helped mentor, and shepherd into the league.

"(Mike) McGlinchey, Garett Bolles—both of these guys are my guys. I'll be ready for those guys, 100%." Miller said.

With two Super Bowl rings safely stashed away in his jewelry box at home, Miller continues to be motivated by his love of the game and his unbridled joy of winning. It's a competitive blend that will eventually carry him all the way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame soon enough.

For now, Miller's more immediate goal is to beat Father Time and recover from an injury in an astonishingly quick time frame so he can get a shot at another future Hall-of-Fame player by Week 1.

"I want to be ready (for) Week 1 versus the Jets. Aaron Rodgers, Monday Night Football," Miller said. "But at the same time, I'm not in control of that. I'm going to do everything I can physically, mentally, emotionally to be ready for that. But if it's not the first week of the season, then it won't be any longer than Week 6, for sure."
