The Broncos lost one of their most promising players on defense for the year.

The injury hits just keep coming for the Denver Broncos. One week after losing dynamic edge rusher Bradley Chubb for the season (ACL), the Broncos lost one of their starting cornerbacks.

De'Vante Bausby has been placed on IR, after suffering a cervical sprain (neck) in Week 5's victory over the L.A. Chargers. Bausby was injured early in the game when he collided with teammate Alexander Johnson on a tackle, where his head/neck area not only took a nasty shot but compressed in an unnatural way.

Bausby had to be carted off the field and was rushed to a local hospital. We learned on Tuesday that Bausby was paralyzed for half an hour following the collision. Scary stuff.

"I was never unconscious, I just couldn't move, but I was still talking and everything," Bausby said on Tuesday via ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "The doc, the neurologist said I was going to be fine and I just trusted that, and after about 30 minutes I was able to wiggle my toes and after a couple hours I was able to regain full mobility so I was straight, I was fine ... They said I was paralyzed for 30 minutes, after 30 minutes I could wiggle my toes and after two hours I could move everything else.''

It's really a bad break for the team but even more so for Bausby, who's less than a year removed from being cut in the NFL and having to ply his wares in the short-lived AAF, where he went on to lead that pro league in interceptions. Bausby, in a short time, had already supplanted Isaac Yiadom as the Broncos' starting cornerback opposite of Chris Harris, Jr.

The future looked bright for Bausby, and no doubt, this casts doubt on it all. But for now, he needs to focus on getting well and as he said, strengthening his neck.

Meanwhile, the Broncos signed veteran CB Coty Sensabaugh. Sensabaugh is in his eighth year, having spent time with the Titans, Rams, Giants and, most recently, Steelers.

He's a 5-foot-11, 187-pound corner with 43 career starts, 248 tackles, three interceptions and 32 passes defensed. It'll take time to work him into the rotation and for now, the Bausby injury likely means more immediate action for Duke Dawson and Davontae Harris.

Isaac Yiadom's struggles have really put the Broncos in a bind, as has the lingering injury to Bryce Callahan.
