Cleveland Browns: Drew Forbes should play a ton against Colts

When the Cleveland Browns take on the Indianapolis Colts, Drew Forbes should get every single rep at right guard that Eric Kush doesn't. Forbes showed enough in the first game against the Washington Redskins to earn more opportunities in practice to get some run with the ones and he's really the only player on the roster right now that has a chance to take over the right guard spot from Kush.
Kyle Kalis is out with a concussion he suffered last week. Austin Corbett has been relegated to the backup center spot. Bryan Witzmann isn't a threat to take that spot, so if they want him to get snaps, put him at left guard after Joel Bitonio's day is done.
Drew Forbes is the prototype offensive lineman. He has great speed and agility for the position combined with the strength and a nasty demeanor in how he plays. Everything with Forbes is how quickly he could adjust to the speed of the NFL after playing his collegiate career at Southeast Missouri State.
Drew Forbes, Southeast Missouri State
Age: 22 (Born Jan. 18, 1997)

Weight: 308 lbs
40-Yard Dash: 4.95s
Broad Jump: 107″
Vertical Jump: 30.5″
3-cone: 7.65s
Shuttle: 4.71s
Bench: 28 reps
If that's not holding him back, he needs every rep they can give him and the Colts game offers him the opportunity to just give him a ton. If they want to see him with the starters for a bit in a game situation, that would say a lot about their comfort level with him. After that, he should take any and all reps with the twos and threes.
The more he can trust his technique, get confident in what he's doing, the better he will get. He has an NFL body and he's starting to show some of the characteristics that made him such an attractive prospect. Compared to a player like Kush (or most anyone on the roster), he can do things only Joel Bitonio and J.C. Tretter are ultimately capable.
It would be a dream scenario if he can do enough to crack the starting lineup, because he should improve over the course of the year. Even if he doesn't take the job outright, he might find his way into the lineup before the season is over. In either scenario, it would mean that's one less line spot the Browns need to address for the future. The Browns could end up replacing both tackle spots and at least right now have not committed to Tretter to be their center beyond this season.
Forbes has to continue to improve and make the most of the opportunities he's given to make this a possibility, but that's the reason for the Browns to get him every rep they can to let him learn and develop this game and the rest of the preseason.
