Browns 2024 Combine Prep: Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy

As Browns' fans fill out their big boards they must include the 6'1 wide receiver from the University of Texas, Xavier Worthy.

The next wideout that could be on the Cleveland Browns wishlist is Xavier Worthy, who coming off of the best season of his career at the Universalist of Texas. Worthy is a guy who could slide right into the new-look Cleveland Browns offense and make an impact early.

The knock on the soon-to-be rookie wideout will be his size, but outside of that, Worthy has the tools to be a game-changing type of wide receiver at the next level.

What stands out when watching the tape on Worthy is that he has top-end speed that when he does line up as the outside receiver, he can run past the defenders and vertically stretch the field. When he lines up in the slot, he matches his top-level speed with elite quickness in and out of breaks making him a nightmare to cover.

In his last year at Texas, the Longhorns took advantage of his unique ability to be a playmaker from anywhere on the field. Of his 490 passing snaps in 2023, 294 of them came from the outside and 196 of them came from a slot position.

Worthy's career year in 2023 ended with 75 receptions for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns. He had two games of over 100 yards receiving and eight games with over 75 yards receiving. Against the best competition, Worthy rose to the occasion when he torched Alabama for 75 yards and a big score, hung 108 on Oklahoma at the Red River Shootout, and put 86 on Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game.

Worthy is a guy that fits Cleveland offense for several different reasons. The biggest in my opinion is that he gives the Browns passing attack someone else to put on the outside opposed to Amari Cooper. Cleveland's moorinability to move Cooper around the formation last year was an issue that Worthy could help solve.

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy (1) runs the ball during the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff semifinals game against the Washington Huskies at the Caesars Superdome on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He also could be a great short-term and potential long-term answer in the slot if Elijah Moore doesn't work out in what is the last year of his deal. Worthy is a versatile prospect that can be plugged in right away.

The fit makes too much sense on top of the talent that Worthy possesses jumping off the screen. With the Browns slated to make their first pick at 54 at the moment, shoud Worthy be available earlier in the second round they may want to consider moving up to grab him.

Keep an eye on Xavier Worthy next week when he competes at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
