Browns Release 2023 Preseason Schedule

The Browns released the schedule on Friday to the public. The Browns open up their preseason slate with the Hall of Fame game on August 3rd.

On Friday, the Cleveland Browns released their games set for the preseason portion of their schedule for the upcoming season.

The team will open up on Aug. 3 when they play the New York Jets in the 2023 edition of the Hall of Fame Game. Last year's game saw the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-11.

This year, the NFL chose for the Browns to be featured in the preseason showdown located in the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

The last time the Browns played in the Hall of Fame Game was over two decades ago in 1999. They defeated the Dallas Cowboys 20-17 at what was then called Fawcett Stadium.

They also played in 1990, 1981, 1967, 1963, winning just one of those against the Atlanta Falcons in 1981 while losing to the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and division rival Pittsburgh Steelers the other years.

The game will start at 8 p.m. ET

On Friday, Aug. 11, the Browns will host the Washington Commanders at FirstEnergy Stadium. The start time for this matchup will be 7:30 p.m. ET

The next week, the Browns will travel to Philadelphia to take on last year's runner-ups at Lincoln Financial Field. This is also set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m ET.

The Browns will finish their preseason schedule by traveling to the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, Aug. 26. This game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m ET at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Browns will kick off the 2023 regular season against their in-state rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 10 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

These games will give rookies and other players on the verge of making the roster a chance to highlight they have got what it takes to make the squad of 53.

The Browns and Eagles will hold joint practices before their game, giving the chance for both teams to see their opponent before they step on the actual game field.

It's unlikely you will see QB Deshaun Watson, RB Nick Chubb, or any other of the offensive starters on the field at least for the first two games. Same for the defense, with a high chance that Myles Garrett and the top guys on defense will not suit up.

With Watson and Chubb sitting, this will give an opportunity to Josh Dobbs, draftee Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and Kellen Mond, the Browns third-string on the depth chart.
