Browns Assistant Coach Reportedly Leaving Cleveland For College Ranks

In this story:
Just when you thought the Browns coaching staff was all settled more change is reportedly coming.
According to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports and CBS Sports, Cleveland's offensive assistant Jonathan DeCoster is heading to the college ranks as he will become a co-offensive line coach for the University of Florida. He's expected to work closely with Rob Sale, who currently serves as the Gators' offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Once confirmed, it would mark the team's seventh coaching staff change of the offseason, six of which came on the offensive side of the ball. In the weeks following the team's disappointing blowout loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round, Cleveland's brass reassessed the coaching staff as a whole and opted for moving on from several coaches.
That list included tight ends coach T.C. McCartney, running backs coach Stump Mitchell and most notably offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. The Browns moved quickly to fill those vacancies as Tommy Rees, Duce Staley and Ken Dorsey were added to the staff for each of those roles respectively.

Not long after filling out his staff though, Kevin Stefanski had another position to fill after legendary offensive line coach Bill Callahan departed to join his son's staff in Tennessee. Assistant offensive line coach Scott Peters left shortly thereafter as well. Stefanski filled those positions with former Seahawks O-line coach Andy Dickerson and Eagles assistant o-line coach Roy Istvan to complete his offensive staff for 2024.
It sounds like one more change is looming though as Zenitz shares news of the latest move for Decoster. Prior to joining Stefanski's staff in 2021, Decoster spent the eight years prior in college football. In his first year with the team in 2021 he served as an offensive quality control coach. He was promoted to offensive assistant in 2022.
