According to Jordan Schultz, the Cleveland Browns are signing veteran defensive tackle Shelby Harris. It is reportedly a one year deal worth up to $5.25m for Harris.

Harris was with the #Seahawks last season after being included in the Russell Wilson trade. Highly productive player whose racked up 24.5 sacks and 40 TFLs in his career. pic.twitter.com/o484huLLs9
Harris met with the Browns and worked out for the team a little over a week ago. He left town without signing a deal as it seemed that he wasn’t in a hurry to sign and had additional suitors that he wanted to feel out
Harris recently started 15 games for the Seattle Seahawks last year and started every game he has played in since 2019. Before ending up in Seattle last year, Harris spent the previous five years with the Denver Broncos.
For Andrew Berry his patience pays off today as he signs a proven commodity at the most needy position left on this 2023 Browns roster. The team has been thin at the DT position ever since the team waived second year defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey right before the start of training camp.
Harris should form a nice tandem along with Dalvin Tomlinson to anchor the middle of the defensive line for Jim Schwartz. Tomlinson will look to eat up blockers either playing the nose or 1-tech while Harris can give you the ability to be a run stopping 3-tech who can also be solid in rushing the passer. If this tandem can stay on the field, the jobs of our linebacker unit will also get easier, as they can read and react to where they need to go.
Expect Berry to now turn his attention to the running back room as he looks to fill the void left by losing second year running back Jerome Ford to a hamstring injury and is considered week to week but his availability for week one vs Cincinnati is uncertain.
