The timeline of these workouts aren't clear as we had already reported the Jordan Wilkins workout a few days ago. The team definitely appears to be looking to add a running back to help handle the workload of the remaining preseason games but none of these names would be guys that you would think capable of competing for a roster spot.
Wilkins (6’ 1”, 216 lbs) is the most accomplished among them. The former 5th round pick in 2018, who played in college at Mississippi, has rushed for 1,009 yards and 4 touchdowns, and has 41 receptions for a total of 262 yards over his first five seasons.
Hills (6' 1", 218 lbs) hasn't played in the NFL since 2019, when he was with Detroit. Despite only playing in one game his entire career, he managed to score 2 touchdowns.
Shampklin (5'9", 194 lbs) spent time with the Indianapolis Colts last season on the practice squad and was signed to a futures contract after the season. He was recently released in May from the team.
Nate Meador, is a name that should sound familiar to many Browns fans. He spent time on the teams practice squad in 2021. Aside from three games that he played in early in his career in Minnesota, Meadors has bounced around the league on practice squads, most recently with the Titans.
Richardson (6'1", 190 lbs) played in college at LSU and recently spent time with the Carolina Panthers.
The Browns appear to be looking at depth in the defensive back room with undrafted rookie Tanner McCalister being out with an injury. We will keep you posted of any additional workouts that we hear about or if the team signs any of these players.
