The Cleveland Browns have waived Elijah McGuire after he was brought up to supplement the running back position this past week. With his roster spot, the team signed corner Robert Jackson from the practice squad and then filled the resulting spot on the practice squad by signing Donnie Lewis to it.

Jackson tends to be more of a special teams player, which is an area where the Browns have been quite effective, but they did add both Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams to the injury report and limited them in practice Thursday, so it's at least possible that one of those injuries is serious enough where they are concerned they need another body in the secondary.

As it specifically relates to the Los Angeles Rams who the Browns play this week, they've got an outstanding group of receivers and they need all the cover corners they can get.

Donnie Lewis, the team's seventh round pick, has seemingly become the guy the team will bounce from the practice squad when they need a spot and then bring back when a spot becomes available. They like him enough to keep him around, but don't see him as a view to go elsewhere.
