The Cleveland Browns put in three waiver claims today netting them Malik Jefferson, KhaDarel Hodge and Ricky Seals-Jones. To balance out the roster, the team has announced they've waived Trevon Coley and Juston Burris, placed Drew Forbes on injured reserve and release Greg Robinson, but he's going to be signed back and is not subject to go anywhere else.

Drew Forbes suffered a knee injury in the preseason finale and though it was deemed minor, the team has opted to shut him down for the year. He could be chosen as a player designated to return, but that isn't terribly likely as a rookie offensive lineman.

The Browns traded for Justin McCray to cover the hole in the roster on the offensive line., who is currently the backup right guard. This could allow Drew Forbes to focus on tackle. He has outstanding traits to play either spot, though tackle is more difficult to find.

Juston Burris made the team initially largely due to special teams. It would at least appear that the claim to get KhaDarel Hodge might have taken that spot and enabled them to release Burris.

The Browns were carrying ten defensive linemen and it seemed likely that either Chad Thomas or Trevon Coley would be the odd man out. Likely after failing to trade him, Coley was chosen to take the fall. He might end up passing through waivers and the Browns could bring him back later.

Coley has done more than Thomas has to this point in their career, but neither one has shown to be a proven NFL player. Thomas just literally doesn't have a tackle in a regular season game yet. If he could play inside as well as on the edge, it would improve his value but that has yet to be the case.

Greg Robinson's release is being described as a procedural move and he's going to be resigned, but it does have the Browns at 52 on their roster for the moment, so this might enable an exercise in roster gymnastics somewhere else, but more than likely just enables them to get Forbes to injured reserve.
