Deshaun Watson Comfortable in Ordinary Browns Drive

In this story:
Between a severe weather delay and the Washington Commanders getting the ball first, it took almost 90 minutes for Deshaun Watson to get on the field, but he didn't disappoint. It wasn't the most exciting drive and Watson only threw three passes, completing all of them, but it was the confidence in which he played that stood out.
The offense started out with a couple easy throws. The first came after shifting Elijah Moore out of the backfield to an empty set, completing a quick out to the Browns newest receiving threat. He followed that up with a checkdown off a playaction fake to Jordan Akins. Nothing fancy, nothing forced. It looked easy, as it should.
Watson also scrambled twice, once after slipping to pick up a first down and completed his last pass to David Njoku on a tight end screen that didn't produce much.
There were a few hints of what's to come with a counter to Demetric Felton that might become a read during the season and Watson kept a zone read in the red zone. The Browns didn't score, getting stuffed on fourth down on an ill-conceived counter to John Kelly that was stuffed.
3/3 for 12 yards, rushing for 20 yards on three carries. Nothing special and there's no reason to try to make it more than it was. But for a quarterback who looked so disjointed in his six games witht he team last year, it was a welcome sight just to see a smooth offensive operation on his one and only drive of the game.
It did come at a cost. Elijah Moore was checked out in the blue medical tent and went to the locker room with an undisclosed injury. The Browns are extremely excited about Moore and was featured in the drive with an 18-yard run from the backfield, so losing him for any amount of time is a setback. Regardless of anything else that happens in this contest, that is the most important story to monitor.
