Four Tight Ends Visit Browns Wednesday

In this story:
As the Cleveland Browns continue to look for ways to improve their roster, they had a total of four tight ends in for a visit on Wednesday. Those tight ends included Nikola Kalinic according to John Hodge of 3 Down Nation as well as Salvatore Cannella and Michael Jacobson per Brad Stainbrook of the Orange and Brown Report.

Kalinic began his career in Canada where he went to college and played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. This past season, the 6'4" 245 pound tight end spent time on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad and was signed to a futures/reserve contract before he was waived.
Sal Cannella has played in the USFL for the New Orleans Breakers and most recently the XFL with the Arlington Renegades with a stint on the Green Bay Packers in between. In just seven games in the XFL, Cannella caught 42 passes for 415 yards. The former Auburn Tiger is listed 6'5" 242 lbs.
Michael Jacobson is a former hooper. He played basketball for Iowa State and Nebraska. He's 6'7" and listed in the 240s. Jacobson spent time with both the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts.
The Browns didn't draft a tight end this year. They did sign Thomas Greaney out of Albany after the draft. These players could represent competition for him, but they also might be looking to potentially trade Harrison Bryant because he has a $2.7 million base salary and they may not want to play him that much if he's going to end up tight end three.
The Browns haven't made a signing to this point, but tight is a position where teams are always looking for Jacobson is an example of why. A former basketball player that has potential to contribute in football. Teams are going to look at those types of players in hopes of finding someone who can make that transition. The Browns attempted it last year when they signed Marcus Santos-Silva out of Texas Tech last year.
