Freddie Kitchens talks Odell Beckham, the meaning of voluntary

Freddie Kitchens finished the first day of Cleveland Browns minicamp and his first as head coach with his media availability. The first question he was asked was about Odell Beckham, basically asking how he was. This led Kitchens to discuss what he thought about Beckham. He thought Beckham looked good, looked in shape, then he pivoted to discuss the definition of voluntary.
After he started talking about Beckham in basic terms, he seemed to get worked up a little bit and then went into a rant about the meaning of the world 'voluntary'.
Kitchens seemed annoyed. Not in regards to what he was talking about, but the fact he needed to. Basically anticipating the next several questions, he simply said it's voluntary, then let the media know he was misinterpreted, that he wasn't unhappy with Beckham, but frustrated with the questions.
Kitchens conceded that yes, he wished Beckham was at OTAs and yes, Beckham did miss stuff by not attending, but that it wasn't as big a deal as some were portraying. He made the point that Beckham had been studying and taking care of his body in the way he saw fit. And judging by what was displayed in the first day of minicamp, Beckham looked like he knew what was going on and was in great shape, showing off his skill set.
Freddie even went as far as using a media member and their attendance at an event as an example, noting that they didn't attend a particular event because it was voluntary.
