Brad Idzik to Join Bucs' Staff as Wide Receivers Coach

Brad Idzik will be making the trip from Seattle, joining newly appointed OC, Dave Canales, on the Buccaneers' coaching staff.

On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Dave Canales to fill their vacant Offensive Coordinator position. Canales, formerly employed as the Quarterbacks Coach of the Seattle Seahawks, will be tasked with revamping an offense in Tampa Bay that was a major disappointment under Byron Leftwich in 2022.

The Buccaneers certainly did their due diligence on this one.

After interviewing more than 10 different candidates for the vacant OC position, they finally found their man.

As soon as the announcement was made, questions began to surface regarding what other coaches might be brought in to assist Canales in his first opportunity to run an offense at the NFL level.

On Thursday evening, it was reported that Brad Idzik, who worked with Canales in Seattle last year, would be joining Canales' staff in Tampa Bay.

Idzik first joined the Seahawks organization in 2019 as the Assistant Wide Receivers Coach. Over his four seasons in Seattle, he occupied other roles on the offensive side of the ball, including: Assistant Quarterbacks Coach/Offensive Quality Control Coach.

Brad Idzik is expected to inherit the role of Wide Receivers coach for the Buccaneers.

Idzik is 31 years old and has a very interesting background. He played football at Wake Forest, and if his academic resume is any indication, he's a bright young mind. According to the Seahawks website, Idzik graduated from Wake Forest with a degree in Mathematical Business, minored in Global Trade Commerce, and also studied Politics and Economics at Cambridge.

He's also got some strong roots in the NFL, and even Tampa.

Idzik's father, John, worked in the Buccaneers' front office for 11 years, from 1993-2004. He also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and served as Seattle's Vice President of Football Administration for five years before being hired as the General Manager of the New York Jets in 2013. He went on to work as a Special Assistant to the General Manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2015-2020. Brad's grandfather, John Idzik Sr., also coached at the collegiate level, in addition to the NFL and CFL.

Although there isn't a ton of information regarding Brad Idzik's coaching acumen, I think it's safe to say that football is in his blood.

With players like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and (for now) Russell Gage on the Bucs' roster, Idzik is surely looking forward to working with such a talented group of wide receivers in Tampa.
