Buccaneers Projected To Draft Heisman Favorite Quarterback In 2024 NFL Draft

Should the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a bit of a honeymoon stage in the post-Tom Brady era. They started 3-1 with new offensive coordinator Dave Canales controlling the offense with quarterback Baker Mayfield at the helm.

What seemed like a team which had playoff potential soon showed its true colors. The Buccaneers have lost six of their last seven games and are struggling in a not-so-great division.

With a 4-7 record on the season, it seems like change might be on the horizon. Mayfield, in theory, was a good short-term replacement for Brady, though he might not be the long-term replacement.

At 28 years old, Mayfield has had a bit of a career resurgence, essentially changing the narrative surrounding him, but, still, it might make the most sense for both parties to separate. There will likely be a situation elsewhere for Mayfield to be a starting quarterback and the Buccaneers can start a rebuild.

It's unlikely the Buccaneers will find a path to the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, so how would they go about a rebuild?

In The Athletic's latest draft piece, written by Dane Brugler, the Buccaneers were projected to take LSU's Jayden Daniels with the No. 7 pick in the draft.

Daniels has been incredible for the Tigers this season, and he's putting up Heisman-worthy numbers, though his team's 9-3 record likely isn't enough to warrant him winning the award. He has 3,812 yards on 72 percent completion with 40 touchdowns. He's protected the ball well, only having thrown four interceptions, and has added 1,134 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns.

Daniels' ability to be an elite dual-threat quarterback would benefit plenty of NFL franchises, and the Buccaneers would be able to run an offense they haven't been able to in years past.

This would allow the Buccaneers to get a franchise quarterback to kick off a rebuild and do so in a style that allows them to play entertaining football.
