With the NFL season approaching, a new edition of EA's Madden football video game will soon hit the shelves.

One big part of each new Madden video game is the reveal of players' overall rankings in the game. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wide receiver Mike Evans is amongst the top of the team's overalls.

Today, the ratings of the top ten NFL wide receivers were revealed, though the list left off the Buccaneers' star wide receiver.

Atop the list was Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, the lone 99 overall of the position. The top ten receivers, according to Madden 24's ratings, shaped out like this

  1. Justin Jefferson - 99 overall
  2. Tyreek Hill - 98 overall
  3. Davante Adams - 97 overall
  4. Stefon Diggs - 96 overall
  5. Cooper Kupp - 96 overall
  6. Ja'Marr Chase - 94 overall
  7. Deandre Hopkins - 93 overall
  8. Terry McLaurin - 92 overall
  9. AJ Brown - 91 overall
  10. Amari Cooper - 91 overall

Evans barely missed the cut, as he has a 90 overall rating, which lands him as the 12th-ranked receiver, just behind CeeDee Lamb, who is also a 90 overall.

The near-30-year-old and Super Bowl champion has recorded 1,000 or more receiving yards in every season that he's played in the NFL, earning his stripes as a premiere receiver in the league.

It could be argued that Evans deserves to be above a few of the receivers on this list. He was the top receiver on a Super Bowl-winning team and has been his team's best receiver for a long, long time.

One factor in his rating could be receiving touchdowns, as Evans pulled in just six touchdowns this past season. In the 2020 season, he pulled in 13 touchdowns, and in the 2021 season, he cashed in for another 14 touchdowns.

The slight dip in scoring production may be a reason Evans was left out of the top ten, and he may be able to earn a top-ten rating if he gets off to a hot start for the Buccaneers.
