Extra Point: Top Takeaways From Buccaneers 30-12 Win Over The Jaguars

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured a huge victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with a 30-12 win. Winner of four straight the Bucs moved into sole place in the NFC South with an 8-7 record on the season. Tampa Bay has a chance to punch their ticket in the dance and claim a third consecutive division title on Sunday when the vaunted Saints come to Raymond James Stadium.

Here are my top three takeaways from the Bucs Week 13 win over the Panthers.

Bucs Offense Hitting Their Groove At The Right Time

Boy, this Bucs offense has come alive in recent weeks. Baker Mayfield's perfect game in Green Bay was followed up with a 30-point scoring output to beat the Jaguars and move to 8-7 on the season. The Bucs were consistently moving the ball down the field and scored on their first five possessions, only punting twice all game.

The play calling has continued to improve as has the sequencing and Mayfield hasn't thrown in an interception in his last three games giving the offense a chance to stay on the field and score. The team has gotten contributions from their stars but has also worked on their complementary pieces to find production.

If the Bucs can keep up this level of play heading into the playoffs they will be a dangerous team to go against come Wild Card Weekend.

Buccaneers Legend Tom Brady Reveals NFL Team He'll Never Cheer For

Devin White Makes A Splash

So much for a rotation. Devin White played nearly the entire game at linebacker for the Bucs with K.J. Britt seeing just three snaps on defense. However, this was one of the best games of the enigmatic linebacker's career.

White came away with several splash plays on defense including an interception that was perhaps one of his best plays in coverage as a Buc. The pick led to seven points on the board for Tampa Bay helping to increase their lead over the Jaguars, but it wouldn't be the only play he would make that would lead to a turnover.

Early in the third quarter, White met Yaya Diaby in the backfield for a split sack. Diaby had the heads-up play to force and recover the fumble he made on Trevor Lawrence as the pair brought him down. That play would also lead to points on the board for the Bucs. White would've had a solo sack as well but a very questionable roughing the passer call was enforced negating it.

Three Up, Three Down

Up

S Antoine Winfield Jr

AWJ does it again. The fourth-year safety was everywhere on Sunday. He came away with several game-changing plays including an interception and a fumble recovery and also had a sack on the day. At this point, Winfield isn't just making a case for an All-Pro nod, but defensive player of the year recognition as well.

OLB Yaya Diaby

Diaby continues to get better and shine each game. Against the Jags, he racked up 1.5 sacks to go with a forced fumble and fumble recovery. He also had a 12-yard tackle for loss and has stepped up his play since being named a starter five weeks ago.

LT Tristan Wirfs

Josh Allen who? Wirfs made sure the explosive pass rusher's name wasn't mentioned all game long. Coming into Sunday Allen had 13.5 sacks. He left with just one tackle....

Down

RB Rachaad White

While White's game wasn't terrible and he laid out a huge block against a Jags defender, the juice wasn't there. He totaled just 39 yards rushing with a paltry two yards per carry. Jacksonville is stout against the run, coming in ranked as the NFL's 11th best unit but if he wants to reach 1,000 yards on the season he's going to have to have a better output than that. He's 127 yards away and needs to average 63.5 yards over the next two games.

CB Zyon McCollum

McCollum played well in the absence of Carlton Davis, who left the game with a concussion, but tackling still remains an issue. In six attempts he missed two of them which led to bigger gains. The Bucs experimented putting him at safety as well and while it wasn't a terrible outing he needs to use better technique when wrapping up ball carriers.

LG Aaron Stinnie

The Bucs rushing game had trouble getting anything going all day Sunday. In fact they had seven plays go for a loss. At the heart of that was Stinnie was overpowered several times leading to lost yardage.
