Three weeks ago, contract negotiation talks between the Baltimore Ravens and all-star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, stalled leading the organization to place the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson.

With talks at a halt between the Ravens and Jackson, the latter took to his social media to lay out exactly what has happened.

The former NFL MVP quarterback stated that he will always love the city of Baltimore along with the fans who loved him playing for the Ravens, but that he indeed requested to be traded from the Ravens back on March 2nd.

With Jackson's intentions now publicly known, the speculation on where the quarterback may be calling his new home has only grown since the initial non-exclusive tag was placed on him.

Prior to the most recent news regarding Jackson's future team, I wrote about how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had decent odds of bringing him in.

Those odds have since shifted - in a positive way.

According to PointsBet Sportsbook, the Buccaneers currently have the fifth-best odds to land Lamar Jackson now that it is assumed he has officially requested a trade out of Baltimore.

The list of possible suitors for Jackson may have dwindled a bit due to free agency, but there are still plenty of options for teams either looking to replace a quarterback or bring in a quarterback, like Jackson, that can ultimately take their team to the next level.

As for the Buccaneers, it is hard to envision a path where they are actually able to get Lamar Jackson to Tampa Bay despite their +800 betting odds to be his next franchise.

The Buccaneers recently signed free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield and from what the staff has put out there, along with Baker's own comments, it appears that both are ready to ride ahead with Mayfield and Kyle Trask as the possible starting options heading into the 2023 NFL season.

They could, however, look to bring in the big fish in Jackson as the for-sure starter with Mayfield and Trask backing him. If this were to occur the newly hired offensive staff will have their hands full in preparing an offensive scheme that would be tailored towards Jackson's strengths.

Keeping the status quo seems like the best possible option for both the staff and current guys on the roster as they are likely to run a more prototypical NFL offense - one that differs greatly from what Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have run for the past five seasons.
