After conducting yet another trade, this time with the Philadelphia Eagles, which saw Tampa give up a 2024 fifth-round pick, the Buccaneers moved up to pick 191 in the sixth round, which the franchise used to select Nebraska wide receiver, Trey Palmer.

Fitting in perfectly with the Buccaneers' theme of this draft, Trey Palmer's calling card is his elite speed. He ran an impressive 4.33 40-yard dash, and was projected to be a 3rd or 4th round pick by the Athletic's draft expert, Dane Brugler.

Palmer was once a 5-star recruit, who spent the start of his collegiate career playing at LSU, before eventually transferring to Nebraska. He's listed at 6'0", 192 pounds.

A former track star in high school, Palmer really found himself as a wide receiver once he joined the Cornhuskers for his final season. It was there that he earned 3rd Team All-Big Ten Conference honors, after setting a single-season school record with 1,043 receiving yards. He recorded 71 receptions with an impressive 14.7 yards per reception. He was a versatile weapon for Nebraska, where he was also utilized as a punt/kick returner, and even a rusher at times. In fact, he took five handoffs for a total of 75 yards, averaging 15 yards per carry.

Palmer's athleticism, combined with his experience as a kick returner, will be a welcome addition for the Buccaneers who have clearly prioritized adding speed to their roster. How he can fit into the team's plans as a rookie will be determined by his performance in training camp.

Palmer finds himself in a very advantageous position in Tampa Bay, where he'll have the opportunity to learn from some of the league's best veteran receivers, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
