By The Numbers: Cardinals Loss to Bears

The Arizona Cardinals fell to the Chicago Bears in Week 16 - let's take a look at the numbers.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals (again) chalk another one up to the loss column after falling to the Chicago Bears in 27-16 fashion.

Arizona now drops to 3-12 on the season with just two weeks remaining.

Before the team moves on to their road test against the Philadelphia Eagles, let's take a look at the numbers from their loss in the Windy City:

By The Numbers: Cardinals Loss to Bears

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (1) signals to his team against the Chicago Bears during the first half at Soldier Field.

The Arizona Cardinals drop to 3-12 on the season.

31 - Trey McBride seemingly came back down to earth today with just 31 receiving yards on six receptions, a steep drop from the normal numbers we're accustomed to seeing from the budding star. There were a few miscommunications between McBride and Kyler Murray as they continue to build chemistry.

250 - The Bears rode their rushing attack to success with 250 yards on the ground. Khalil Herbert rushed for 112 of those yards and found the end zone for the first time this season while Justin Fields had 97 yards on the ground and a score himself.

3- There were few bright spots on Arizona's defense, though Jalen Thompson's three pass deflections on top of his five tackles and one interception made him the star of the show on that side of the ball.

5- The Bears had five trips to the red zone today, often moving the ball with ease even in spite of their two primary targets in DJ Moore and Cole Kmet missing various amounts of time due to injury. It was also the first week since Week 4 where Chicago strung together three consecutive touchdown drives.

4- Arizona's leader in receptions was - you guessed it - running back Emari Demercado with seven for 40 yards. Cardinals receivers again combined for just four catches (similar to last week vs SF) though Greg Dortch did find the end zone.

1st- Though Arizona lost, today marked the first game where Murray threw for multiple touchdowns and no interceptions. His passer rating of 97.5 was also the highest of the season.

No. 2 - Pending results of Sunday Night Football, the Cardinals currently have the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. A Patriots win would see them retain sole possession of the slot while a loss would bump Arizona back to No. 3 since the Cardinals have a higher strength of schedule.
