BREAKING: Cowboys confident Tyron, Byron, Amari, Zack, Tank and Tyrone will all be healthy for Week 1 vs. Giants

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have in-house optimism when it comes to the work to be done on their high-profile contract extensions, including a deal for Ezekiel Elliott. Just as importantly, though, management is all feel-good about some standouts' health for Week 1.
Appearing on 105.3 The Fan on Friday, the eve of Saturday's preseason visit by the Texans, COO Stephen Jones said he is “very optimistic” all of the currently injured players will be available against the New York Giants when the regular season starts.
That goes for right guard Zack Martin. That goes for line mate Tyron Smith. That goes for cornerback Byron Jones. That goes for receiver Amari Cooper. And it applies to just-off-PUP defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford as well.
Pretty much all of the above outside of Jones have openly expressed plans to play against the Giants; Byron and his hip experienced a mild setback recently that raised some questions.
Martin and Smith are dealing with back issues, which can be tricky. But rest seems to be working as the answer there. Cooper's responses to me this week about his sore foot were certainly positive.
"We're very optimistic that we're going to have everyone available" said Jones.Could everything -- contracts and injuries -- really get wrapped up in one nice, neat package in time for Week 1?
"I don't think we're close because there hasn't been a lot of activity,'' Jones said of contract talks. "Right now I wouldn't say that I feel anything's imminent'' ... though he also noted, "We feel confident things will get done. Things happen real quick, sometime within hours."
